In New Iberia, Louisiana I met Miss Caldonia, a strongly built and "marked by life" woman living in the west end, a black part of town where poverty, drugs and weapons are part of the daily life. I visited her and photographed her daily on the porch of her simple house, where she lives with her two grandchildren and awaits the return of her sons. Her sons are both in jail for drug offense and weapons possession. For me, an incredibly intense experience to photograph these scenes which would normally be overlooked.
